Halyna Hutchins' family have accused Baldwin of 'recklessly' shooting the cinematographer

Halyna Hutchins' family have launched a lawsuit against Alec Baldwin over the death of the cinematographer on the set of Rust last October. Hutchins died after a gun held by Baldwin discharged a live round during a scene rehearsal. Lawyers for her family have accused crew members of "cutting corners on safety procedures." The lawsuit, which was filed in the First Judicial District Court of New Mexico on behalf of Hutchins' husband Matthew and son Andros, names assistant director David Halls, armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and prop master Sarah Zachry as defendants, along with Baldwin. The family are seeking unspecified damages, the BBC reports. They claim that Baldwin and others ""failed to perform industry standard safety checks and follow basic gun safety rules." Along with the accusations of "cutting corners," the lawsuit also accuses producers of "rushing to stay on schedule and ignoring numerous complaints of safety violations." A single live round hit Hutchins in the chest, with film director Joel Souza also hit in the shoulder. In an interview with ABC News last December, the actor said he had never pulled the trigger. After the incident, Baldwin voiced his "shock and sadness" at what he labelled a "tragic accident." Related links:
