Charlie Sloth won’t finish final 10 shows at BBC following ARIAS outburst

They think it’s all over… it is now

A few weeks ago it was announced that Charlie Sloth would be leaving the BBC after 10 years of broadcasting on both BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1Xtra, but it looks like things might have been fast tracked this week after his outburst at the ARIAS a couple of nights ago.

In a bizarre turn of events, Charlie Sloth, doing his best Kanye West impression, invaded the stage at the ARIAS on Thursday night and told Edith Bowman to “Fuck ya life.”

Unhappy with the decision that he lost out to Edith in the category for Best Specialist Music Show, Charlie went full-on Kanye West 2009 VMAs on the Leeds crowd when he stormed the stage to interrupt Gemma Atkinson during the announcement of the winner for National Station/Network of the Year.

“Edith Bowman, fuck ya life,” he screamed to everyone in attendance, stating that it was bullshit that Bowman and her show won. Before he left the stage he signed off by saying: “I just wanna say BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Saturday night Rap Show. Fuck ya life. God bless.”

With 10 shows left on his contract before departing his post as DJ of the popular BBC Radio rap show, Charlie took to Twitter moments ago to declare that he will no longer fulfil the rest of his contract and therefore his remaining shows will not take place.

He said:

“I’ve decided not to do the remaining 10 shows on the BBC that I initially agreed. I love you all. Thank you.”

Minutes before the announcement he posted another tweet addressing his behaviour at this week’s ARIAS:

“Soooo the ARIAS… it was supposed to be a bit of bants with me jumping on stage, starting with me saying ‘ok ima let you finish.’ It wasn’t directed at Edith, I love Edith and like I said so does my mum. I’ve apologised to Edith privately, I’m sorry to anyone I upset.”

Did Charlie really make the decision to leave the BBC early or was he pushed?
