This is what the ‘ideal woman’s body’ looks like in 18 countries across the world

Never has the phrase ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ seemed more apt.

This brilliant infographic sums up the subjective nature of beauty and body image perfectly. Basically designers in 18 countries from China to Syria were given the task of photoshopping the image of a woman based on the beauty standards of their respective nations by pharmacy Superdrug. The Perceptions of Perfection experiment saw the designers, 14 of whom were women, altered the image below to reflect what they believed to reflect a woman’s ideal body, changing everything from the waistline to the size of the hips and legs.
