‘I’m meant to be dead’: Woman’s hunt for hero who saved her moments before train hit

‘I just have to find him, he saved my life’

A woman is searching for the man who saved her life after rescuing her when she fell on the tracks of the London Underground.

Tegan Badham was on her way to Wireless Festival when she tripped and fell onto the tracks at King’s Cross’ underground station.

She was electrocuted and unable to move when a stranger pulled her to safety just seconds before a train came round the corner.

Speaking about the ordeal to the Sun, she said: “I was in agony, I could smell my own flesh burning and my brand new dress shrivelled up from the electricity. Even my hair extensions were fried.

“It all happened so fast but a man grabbed hold of my arms and pulled me up.”

Now, Tegan is trying to find him so she can thank him in person.

She describes him as being possibly in his 30s, wearing casual clothes and that he had “light brown, blonde hair.”

“I just have to find him, he saved my life,” she said.

“I was too shocked to thank him and he was catching the train that came into the station. I was so lucky that he bravely reached down to me, without him I would be dead now.”

The 21-year-old told ITV Wales that she landed right at the beginning of the station tracks so “as soon as that train came around that corner, that was it then, I was going to be gone.”

She said: “If he wasn’t there, I genuinely would be dead.”

The man had apparently been keen to stay with her to but had to leave with his mates soon after rescuing her, so she never got his name.

Along with the man, Tegan’s £40 boots also played a part in saving her, with the thick rubber soles acting as insulation when she landed on the live rails. Although she still suffered burns to her back, legs and arms from the 630-volt line, the boots stopped the electric shock being fatal.

She said that if she does ever meet her rescuer she would “want to cry.”

She added: “I would just be so lost for words because at the end of the day, if it wasn’t for this guy, I would genuinely be dead. I wouldn’t be here.”

A TfL spokesperson said: “We are sorry to hear that a customer at King’s Cross St Pancras station sustained minor injuries after a fall onto the Victoria line track and would like to thank those who helped her. We wish her a full and quick recovery and want to reassure customers that their safety is paramount to TfL.”
