The woman who Nick Kyrgios accused of having “700 drinks” at this year’s Wimbledon final has spoken out following the backlash from the Australian tennis star.
The 27-year-old was typically frustrated in his Grand Slam final match-up against Novak Djokovic on Sunday when he complained about the woman distracting him when he was serving, claiming she was “drunk out of her mind” and “speaking to [him] in the middle of a game”.

Now though, the mystery woman has been revealed and speaking to The Telegraph, she insists she was only trying to support him and, contrary to Kyrgios’ ballpark figure, she only had two drinks all game.
Ania Palus, a 32-year-old lawyer from Poland, revealed she had consumed just two drinks during the entire final and was merely trying to cheer the Aussie on but admits her vocalisation may have come across wrong.
“I understand what it is like to be an underdog so I wanted to give him support,” she told the outlet, adding, “Maybe I took it too far so for that I am sorry but I only had good intentions.”
She went on to tell reporters that one of the reasons she was trying to cheer him was that she suffers from depression, something she knew Kyrgios has also battled with over the years.
Furthermore, she also explained that the heat might have had something to do with it, with the temperature reaching above 30 on centre court. She claimed, “It’s the temperature for me, I had no hat … I’m really sorry,” according to The West Australian.
Palus was ultimately ejected and given a bottle of water before being allowed to come back in by Wimbledon staff and watch the rest of the match, which ended in Kyrgios reaching his furthest-ever stage of a Grand Slam and Djokovic’s seventh Wimbledon title – now just one behind Roger Federer.
