Adam Savage, host of Mythbusters on The Discovery Channel, recorded a pistol being fired at a super-slow speed of 73,000 frames a second.

In a video you'll probably want to watch more than once, mushroom clouds can be seen before and after the bullet exits the pistol.

We'll probably stick to water pistols but it's fascinating to watch...
