Plane passengers baffled by couple sitting incredibly close to each other

Ryan Price

How did cabin crew allow this?

We’ve all seen some strange things on a plane. Whether it’s someone taking their shoes and socks off, a passenger doing downward dog in the middle of the aisle or a person air-drying their laundry on the back of the seat in front.

The mile high club is a divisive one. There are many who would say it’s fair game and as long as the toilet door is locked then it’s a case of ‘see no evil, hear no evil’. Others would question what the appeal is, considering a Ryanair cabin isn’t exactly the most romantic and alluring place on earth.

While what Twitter user Flea witnessed on his four hour journey wasn’t quite extreme enough to be classified as a trip to the mile high club, it wasn’t far off it either.

Flea sat one row back and across from an unidentified couple who seemed to believe that their row on the plane was their living room sofa. The loved-up couple took it upon themselves to sprawl out across their entire row and have a spooning session, with their feet sticking out onto the aisle for everyone else to manoeuvre around.

Flea accompanied the pictures with the caption: “Can’t believe my view on the plane. It was like this the whole 4 hour flight.”

The post has racked up over 21 million views on Twitter, and people couldn’t get over the audacity of the couple.

One user wrote: “How did the flight attendant not say anything?”

Another commented: “I’m more mad that they’re barefoot.”

One other person said: “Took their shoes off and just made themselves at home, damn. Couldn’t even wait till they got to a hotel.”

Others praised the unidentified couple for their commitment to each other, and described the pair as “goals”.

One user said: “They locked in their own world and don’t give a f**k about yall.”

Another wrote: “I want whatever they have.”

Our personal favourite comment however, was this one: “As long as their seatbelts are on and their tray tables are up. I don’t see the problem.”

There’s nothing like a bit of humour to diffuse a clash of opinions on social media.
