Tony Garnett said he wants to show people he’s not a ‘scrounger for government benefits’

The British dad who ditched his partner of eight years for the Ukrainian refugee they were housing has announced that he is now broke.

Tony Garnett left the mother of his two daughters just ten days after welcoming Ukrainian refugee Sofiia Karkadym, 22, into their home. The 29-year-old, who is now caring full-time for his partner after an eye infection left her partially blind, has now revealed he has money troubles.,

He told the Daily Star: “I’ve been trying to get by and survive with Sofiia with now,” he said. “I want to show people that I’m not a scrounger for government benefits, I know what is right.”

He added: “I used to have a very successful business. I’ve dedicated myself to it, some weeks I put over 80 hours a week into it.”

Garnett claims that he once earned £2k a week but is now getting “jack s**t” after he lost business over the affair. One contract involved supplying security for the NHS, but officials were allegedly concerned after journalists and paparazzi turned up.

“NHS said that because I’m now apparently a ‘public figure’ in the public eye they class it as a risk for me to be at any of these places,” the Bradford local explained. “I’m not a public figure, I’m just an outspoken individual.”

Garnett has been living “off what I’ve been paid by newspapers” while also maxing out credit cards and borrowing money from family members.

He’s also trying to break into the music scene and last week released a rap entitled: Ukraine to UK Rain.

In the song, which he claims to have written in under an hour, Garnett raps: “I like life to the fullest, I live with no regrets.

“I’m now with a blonde, but yes my ex was brunette.

“The ex is two faced, it’s the only way I can describe.

“What she said to the papers? Yeah. It was all lies.”
