Brit dad who left family for Ukrainian refugee can move back in with family

A ban on him seeing his kids has been lifted

A British dad who left his wife and kids for a Ukrainian refugee his family were hosting can see his ex-partner and children again on a judge’s orders.

Tony Garnett, 29, from Bradford, hit the headlines in May after leaving his 28-year-old partner, Lorna Garnett, who he had been with for eight years, for 22-year-old Sofiia Karkadym.

Karkadym fled her home in Lviv after Russia invaded Ukraine in February, moving in with Garnett, his partner, and their children under the Government’s refugee scheme.

The dad, who owns his own security company, sponsored Karkadym. Just 10 days after she moved in, Garnett left his family to start a new life with the refugee.

But they broke up last month following an alleged dispute when they celebrated his 30th birthday at their rented home in Bradford. Police were called after Tony alleged Sofiia damaged a wall with a knife.

Now that their four months relationship has come to an end, the Mail reports that Tony has been reunited with his family after a judge lifted a reported ‘non-molestation’ order which banned him from being with his wife and daughters.

But his ex-partner Lorna has confirmed there is no going back for Tony as far as she’s concerned and that she is seeing someone else.

“I am chuffed beyond words. It’s so amazing to be back with my kids. They come before anything,” Tony said.

Lorna said: “He is actually a wonderful father who loves his daughters to bits. I know he has missed them a lot.

“But I had to get a court order against him because I was really worried in case his girlfriend, who he left me for, persuaded him to run away to Ukraine with her and our daughters.”

Speaking about his breakup with Sofia, Tony said: “I’m not heartless. I do feel sorry for her. But relationships do come to an end and this one is over. I hope we can be friends when all this hysteria has died down.

“I talked to her and told her that there was absolutely no chance of us getting back together.

“Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. She’ll be much better off in Ukraine or if she gets a new relationship, good luck to her.”

She has reportedly decided to move back to Ukraine following the breakup.
