Ozempic has had a rise in popularity as a weight loss medication, but it seems it’s causing a side effect that is not so pleasant.
Many are using it for its potential benefits in weight loss, however, users are now considering their decision following this side effect.
And the effect that is being reported is what some users have started to call it “Ozempic poo”.
What is it, exactly?
Alongside other bizarre reactions to the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) injections, such as “Ozempic penis”, “Ozempic vulva” and “Ozempic teeth”, Business Insider has now reported about “Ozempic poo” that is being experienced by the medication’s users.
Some users of the medication are dealing with unexpected and uncontrollable bowel movements as a result of the injections.
The medication has had a surge in its use, as President Donald Trump has played a significant role in bringing weight loss drugs like Ozempic into the spotlight.
And people are increasingly using them as the price of these injections drop and more alternatives are hitting the market.
With the rise of popularity comes also the rise of bowel movements, it seems.
“S**tting the bed” has been described by some users as one of the most troubling aspects of using Ozempic, as one Reddit user frustratingly asked “Any advice for not stting in the bed while sleep?”
One commenter offered some advice: “That’s an extreme side effect. You should talk to your doctor. Do not eat any greasy foods or complicated carbohydrates. Eat small amounts. Don’t eat after seven. You can become extremely dehydrated. Good luck.”
On the other hand, some users have revealed that they have the opposite experience, as instead of diarrhea, they’re dealing with constipation.
However, not everyone shares the same experience. Some reported the opposite problem, experiencing constipation instead of diarrhea.
Other studies have also linked GLP-1 drugs to more serious issues than just frequent bowel movements or constipation, and one of them is pancreatitis.
