Sky Sports’ anchor David Jones has responded after Graeme Souness paused mid-sentence to berate him during punditry for Manchester United v Liverpool.

The former Liverpool captain had stopped himself on-air to confront Jones and ask “why are you looking like that?”

In a slightly longer clip, Jamie Carragher can be seen trying to contain his laughter. Once Souness was finished embarrassing himself, the task of somehow recovering Sky’s broadcast fell to Gary Neville, who looked to swiftly move the conversation on.

Souness said: “I thought they dominated the ball up until the 18 yard box of Man United, and… Why are you looking like that? Do you not agree with me?

“I was just wondering if they agreed with you,” Jones said after a slight pause.

“Well, it was the way you looked.”

David Jones has since tweeted a joke in response, thanking well-wishers for their concern after the broadcast.

He wrote: “Thanks for all your concern … Graeme Souness and I have sorted out our differences in the car park,” and attached a gif of Forrest Gump running.

Glad to know you’re alright, Dave.
