It’s only available for a limited time

McDonalds have launched a new Spam and Oreo Burger that has raised eyebrows all over the world. Thankfully for people in the UK, it’s only available in China for a limited time only.

The burger has already attracted its fair share of criticism (and amazement), but as with any new menu item announced by the fast good giant, it will undoubtedly have its suitors.

The limited edition burger is comprised of a sandwich made with two slices of Spam, mayonnaise, and topped with Oreo crumbs. Seriously.

It is part of an official brand partnership with Spam, who are looking to grow their profile in China.

We haven’t tried it, and we’re not sure if we’d want to, but you never know – looks can be deceiving. Perhaps it could turn out to be a classic.

The burger will go on sale China from December 21st onwards, although there will be a limited availability of around 400,000 Spam and Oreo Burgers in circulation.

It is set to retail for a price of ¥13.14 RMB – which works out at about £1.50.

The Spam and Oreo Burger won’t be available in the Western world, but McDonalds are still planning changes to the menu in Europe and America.

A whole range of plant-based burgers will make their way to your local McDonalds at some point in 2021.

The ‘McPlant’ range will look to offer burgers, chicken substitutes and breakfast sandwiches, which it expects to roll out in 2021.

Last month, the CEO of McDonalds told analysts on a conference call that “Plant-based products are an ongoing consumer trend. It’s not a matter of if McDonald’s will get into plant-based, it’s a matter of when.”

If you could get your hands on one, would you try it?
