Mars has brought back a classic 1980s chocolate bar.
The iconic bar is returning to shelves and is set to stay in stores until December.
Those of you of a certain age will have fond memories of the chocolate bars of your youth, but many of these are probably not called the same thing they were back then.
Perhaps teh most famous rebrand of a chocolate bar in this country has been Snickers, the popular nutty caramel bar.
Having previously been called Marathon, it was rebranded in 1990 to match the brand name in the US.
Well, now it’s back.
Marathon bars will be available in Morrisons on a limited run until December, the Guardian reports.
The confectionery company said the revival was to mark a milestone for its UK business.
This isn’t the first time Mars has decided to reboot the Marathon.
When the treat returned in 2019, it was so popular that chocoholics bought over 4 million bars in just 12 weeks.
The Snickers bar was first created in 1930 and was named after the Mars family’s favourite horse. It launched as Marathon in the UK in 1967. The name change was rumoured to be because of concerns Snickers rhymed with ‘knickers.’
Talking about the special Marathon retro edition Steve Waters, Senior Brand Manager, said: “We’re excited to bring back the Marathon bar branding for a limited period.
“It’s a great way to celebrate over 90 years of Mars making chocolate in the UK. We hope fans of Snickers, who remember when it was called Marathon, will enjoy picking it up in store!”
