Over 420 products will be available for a penny

Iceland shoppers can pick up three items for just 3p for the next week.

The budget supermarket is making over 420 of its products even cheaper to help customers who are struggling amid the cost of living crisis.

Families are already finding it near-impossible to make ends meet as prices soar. More than three-quarters of adults in Great Britain are worried about the rising cost of living, with about half of them doing so almost every day, research by the Office for National Statistics revealed last week.

Iceland staff have reported customers telling them to stop scanning when they clock up to £40 at check outs, because they are simply on such a tight budget. The supermarket is therefore temporarily slashing products prices from today to help customers cope.

Milk, bread, butter and other essentials will be included in the deal, as well as burger buns, ice cream cones, fizzy drinks and other summer staples .

The deal runs from today until June 24, helping shoppers in the final week before payday. It will allow customers to save up to 99p per product, based on items that were originally at a cost of £1.

One thing to be aware of is that this deal is not available in the supermarkets – you will have to head to Iceland’s online store to make use of the deal. Just pop three items that are part of the deal in your shopping basket and you’ll become eligible.

When you get to the checkout, make sure to enter “ICEPENNY” into the promotional code box before paying.

Richard Walker, Managing Director at Iceland, said: “We’re continuing to work hard to ensure our customers are being supported as much as possible as the cost of living continues to rise and we hope our 3p everyday essentials sale will help a little this weekend.

“Our previous sales at Christmas and Easter were very popular and this time we’ve taken the decision to branch out and offer this deal on everyday essentials, as well as vegetables, to help our customers as we navigate through the cost-of-living crisis.

“We’re committed to helping our customers as much as we can at this difficult time and will continue to do so.”
