Fans say they ‘ruined Christmas’

Fans have blasted chocolate giant Cadbury for ‘ruining Christmas’ after they axed a favourite festive product.

People have been searching the shops for a treat that usually appears around this time of year as the run up to Christmas begins.

The product in question are ‘Festive Friends’ biscuits. Not too dissimilar to animal biscuits, ‘Festive Friends’ are shaped biscuits half covered with milk chocolate.

After fans took to social media to ask about the tasty snack, Cadbury confirmed that the product will no longer be available.

Furious fans reacted with one saying ‘getting rid of them is like getting rid of Santa’.

One user asked: “@CadburyUK hello have you discontinued festive friends?”

Another replied saying: “What’s going on with the festive friends this year I can’t find them anywhere? Christmas is getting ruined and it’s only September… fuming. P.s don’t try telling me the festive animals are ‘the same’.”

Cadbury’s responded: “Hi there. Our Cadbury Festive Friends aren’t returning this year, but don’t worry, we have our new Cadbury Festive Animals for you to try They are the same Animal biscuits you know and love, but with new festive shapes! We enjoy them best dunked in a hot chocolate.”

But fans didn’t take the news too well as one user questioned the chocolatier’s decision: “I’ve had festive friends since I was a child. Getting rid of them is like getting rid of Santa. Animal biscuits are a darker biscuit compared to festive friends, they are also a lot smaller biscuit. They were the best item of the festive range, why did you pick these over others?”

However, others gave glowing reviews of the festive animal biscuits as one customer said: “My children eat boxes of these every year, their favourite Christmas treat, I love them too! Absolutely delicious.”

Meanwhile, those with a sweet tooth will be delighted to hear that the classic 80s chocolate bar the Marathon is to get a reboot.

The decision to scrap the name Marathon in 1990 saw the popular snack replaced with the name Snickers. However, Mars has revealed it is making a ‘special Marathon retro edition’.
