A report released by Yard on Friday shows that Taylor Swift has taken 170 flights on her private plane since January. Racking up more than 22,923 minutes in the air, which equates to nearly 16 days, Swift's average flight time is around 80 minutes.
The 32-year-old singer, who has campaigned extensively for climate action, has contributed 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon herself, which is 1,184.8 times more than the average person.
Swift was subsequently slammed online, with many questioning why she has positioned herself as a voice for the planet.
"Going to get cancelled for this, but f**k Taylor Swift too, selfish as the rest of them," wrote one person on Twitter.
Another added: "girl, you're making it harder and harder for me to defend you."
But the singer has since responded, through a mouthpiece that is, and told Rolling Stone that it's not just her fault.
"Taylor's jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals," a spokesperson said. "To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect."
But that isn't to say Swift is alone, and in fact, former boxer Floyd Mayweather has contributed almost as much. The 45-year-old has shed 7,076.8 tonnes of CO2 from his private jet this year, which is roughly 1,011 times more than the average person's yearly output.
Other notable names on the list include Jay Z, country singer Blake Shelton, director Steven Spielberg, Kim Kardashian, Mark Wahlberg, Oprah and Travis Scott.
