We now have details about Benicio Del Toro’s role in The Last Jedi and more

“It’s time for the Jedi to end.”

Every single person in the galaxy was left wondering what Luke’s cliffhanger meant in the superb trailer for Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, but there were also some other mysteries to resolve.

For example, two new characters were conspicuous by their absence in the first footage.

Jar Jar Binks and Boss Nass. Na, only kidding.

Ever since we first saw Benicio Del Toro mumble and improvise that classic lineup scene in The Usual Suspects, the Oscar-winning actor has consistently turned in some brilliant performances.

Truth be told, his unhinged and tough as nails character in Sicario was one of his most memorable roles in recent years, and it appears that he’s continuing this trend in The Last Jedi.

Vanity Fair recently interviewed the cast/crew and they didn’t even have to use the Jedi mind trick to get a few new details about the world’s most eagerly anticipated film.

Del Toro will be playing  “a shady character of unclear allegiance” who goes unnamed in the film but is called DJ by the filmmakers.

Director Rian Johnson said: “You’ll see — there’s a reason why we call him DJ.”

Elsewhere, another newcomer to the Star Wars saga, Laura Dern, will be playing a “prominent officer in the Resistance named Vice Admiral Holdo.”

One final note, it appears that Luke hasn’t been as lonely as we may have thought during his isolation on Ahch-To.

Johnson said that the film’s crew have constructed a small village of “beehive-shaped huts” on Skellig Michael which will act as the homes of various monk-like “caretaker creatures”.

Heck, they can’t be any worse than the Ewoks.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will arrive to theaters on December 15, 2017.

doubles for the planet of Ahch-To, home to a society of monk-like “caretaker creatures” among whom Luke has been residing.
