It's official: Eddie Munson can seriously shred
The Upside Down might not be real but
Joseph Quinn's guitar skills certainly are - and fans are loving this behind-the-scenes video of him playing Metallica's "Master of Puppets" during rehearsals for the show's latest series.
In the clip shared by the
Stranger Things writer's room Twitter account, you can see the 29-year-old British actor practising the iconic
Metallica track and while he might not be clad in his now-iconic curly mullet and denim jacket, he's certainly channelling his inner James Hetfield.

Quinn
told the Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that he had been playing the guitar from a very young age but admitted he had taken "a huge amount of time off". However, he says after reading the script he instantly went and bought a guitar and "started practising manically".
While he confessed that it wasn't him playing the solo - admitting "I’m not a heavy metal guitarist, so we got this brilliant virtuoso to come in and do that bit" - he says he was able to film the rest of the song himself. Utterly badass.

He later told Collider that “On the day, me and Gaten [Matarazzo - aka Dustin] just got up on top of the camper van, and just got into it... It was very fun.”
The scene has gone down as one of the show's best and has received such a good reception that
Metallica themselves reacted to the moment, saying they were "blown away".
The legendary rock band have also been vocal in their opposition against die-hard metal-heads or those of an older generation trying to 'gatekeep' the track. In fact, they posted and pinned a comment saying as much in a recent TikTok video.
"FYI - EVERYONE is welcome in the Metallica Family. Whether you’ve been a fan for 40 hours or 40 years, we all share a bond through music." Too right, lads - headbanging is for everyone.
