Uma Thurman’s powerful response about the Harvey Weinstein scandal is excellent

Paul Moore

A masterclass in controlled rage.

During the course of her career, Uma Thurman has become something of a muse for Quentin Tarantino. In fact, during the filming of Pulp Fiction, Thurman and Tarantino co-created the idea of a film that revolved around a bride that sought revenge for a massacre that was committed on her wedding day – of course, this ultimately became Kill Bill.

Given the fact that every one of Tarantino’s films has been distributed by Miramax or The Weinstein Company, Thurman would have met Harvey Weinstein.

Thurman also starred in Beautiful Girls and Burnt – two films that were distributed by Weinstein-owned companies.

In a recent interview with the New York Times,  Tarantino has said that he was aware of instances of alleged sexual assault by the film producer but he failed to act, stating: “I knew enough to do more than I did.”

He added: “There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him.”

Given the fact that Thurman also worked with Weinstein, she was recently asked by Access Hollywood to offer her opinion on the various allegations that were made towards the shamed film producer.

Clearly seething with anger, the actress displayed a masterclass in controlled rage.

She said: “I don’t have a tidy soundbite for you because I’ve learned that I’m not a child. I’ve learned that when I’ve spoken in anger, I usually regret the way that I express myself. So, I’ve been waiting to feel less angry and when I’m ready I’ll say what I’ve got to say.”

Regarding the allegations that were made against Weinstein, the New York police have recently stated that they have a viable case against the producer after an actress accused him of raping her seven years ago.

More than a dozen women have accused the 65-year-old of rape while various other women have accused him of sexual harassment and performing indecent acts.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex made against him.
