The film features Barry Keoghan, Brendan Gleeson and Michael Fassbender.
Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 15 May) is Trespass Against Us, an underrated 2016 crime thriller with a star-studded cast.
The film stars Oscar-nominee Michael Fassbender as Chad Cutler, a member of the Irish travelling community, who lives in the wealthy countryside of Gloucestershire, England with his wife (Lyndsey Marshal) and son.
The Cutlers have been a crime family for generations, with Chad the heir apparent to his tough father, Colby (Oscar-nominee Brendan Gleeson).
Hoping to give his son a better life than he had, Chad plans to put his days of lawbreaking behind him and go straight.
“When Colby learns of Chad’s dreams for another life, he sets out to tie his son and grandson into the archaic order that has bound the Cutler family for generations,” the plot synopsis reads.
“He engineers a spectacular piece of criminal business involving a heist, a high-speed car chase and a manhunt, which leaves Chad bruised and bloodied and with his very freedom at stake.”
The cast of Trespass Against Us also includes Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan, as well as Killian Scott (Love/Hate), Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders), Rory Kinnear (Skyfall) and Sean Harris (the Mission: Impossible franchise).
Though it earned mixed reviews upon release, we’d argue that the movie is well worth seeking out to see Fassbender and Gleeson go head-to-head.
It also has some very exciting and tense action sequences and some fascinating supporting characters.
Trespass Against Us is airing on Film4 tonight/tomorrow morning at 1.45am, so we’d advise recording the crime thriller.
Or you can stream the movie after it airs on Channel 4’s website.
