The horrifying urban legend is coming to your cinema
In terms of marketing for horror films, there’s nothing quite like the vagueness that can exist when the boundaries between fiction and reality become blurred.
While the myths and aura surrounding films like The Exorcist, The Omen, The Blair Witch Project and The Amityville Horror seem like they’ve taken on a status that goes beyond the films themselves, the same can be said for the cult of the Slender Man.
Having originated as an Internet meme back in 2009, the tall, thin spectral figure that is the Slender Man (or Slenderman, if you prefer) and characters inspired by his likeness have appeared in various forms of media including TV shows like Supernatural and, er, Law and Order: SVU.
Well, the Slender Man will now be creeping into your cinema very soon.
Plot’s it all about?: In a small town in Massachusetts, four high school girls perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of Slender Man. When one of the girls goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, HIS latest victim.
