Netflix has added these 25 huge movies to its library

Several underseen film gems have been added to the streaming service in recent weeks.

Looking to kick back and relax over the long weekend?

Well, Netflix has been busy adding the following 25 big movies to its Irish and UK library over the past few weeks which should provide some entertainment.

America’s Sweethearts

Billy Crystal, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Cusack and Julia Roberts star in this 2001 rom-com.

Bad Country

In this crime thriller, a police detective (Willem Dafoe) and a contract killer turned informant (Matt Dillon) team-up to take down a powerful crime ring.

The Beautiful Game

Starring Bill Nighy, this Netflix original sports drama about the Homeless World Cup – a global street football tournament – holds a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Captive State

This 2019 sci-fi thriller starring Ashton Sanders and John Goodman follows a young man who participates in a conspiracy to rebel against an alien race that has invaded Earth and forced strict martial law on all humans.

Cat Person

The 2023 psychological thriller based on the incredible viral story of the same name.

Cop Land

This hard-hitting crime drama features Sylvester Stallone’s best performance.

Damsel

Another Netflix original movie, this dark fantasy sees Millie Bobby Brown play a young woman who must fend for herself after being thrown into a dragon’s lair as a sacrifice.

Father Stu

Mark Wahlberg stars in this 2022 biographical drama as a boxer-turned-Catholic priest who is diagnosed with a rare muscular disease.

Femme

An incredibly tense revenge thriller movie with George MacKay (1917) and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits).

Firestarter

The 2022 adaptation of Stephen King’s sci-fi thriller novel featuring Zac Efron.

The Guest

The criminally underseen action thriller revolves around an enigmatic soldier named David Collins (Dan Stevens) who unexpectedly visits the Peterson family, introducing himself as a friend of their son who died in combat in Afghanistan.

The Mexican

Julia Roberts stars again, alongside Brad Pitt and James Gandolfini in this dark comedy thriller revolving around a supposedly cursed gun.

The Monuments Men

George Clooney directs and leads an all-star cast (Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett and Matt Damon) in this war film about an Allied group tasked with finding and saving pieces of art and other culturally important items before Nazis destroy or steal them during WWII.

No Escape

Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan star in this action thriller about an expat engineer trapped with his family in a south Asian country during a violent uprising.

The Old Oak

This acclaimed 2023 drama from legendary filmmaker Ken Loach (Kes, The Wind that Shakes the Barley) centres on the last pub standing in a once thriving mining village in northern England that has fallen on hard times.

Punch Drunk Love

Adam Sandler gives his best performance in this romantic comedy-drama as an entrepreneur with social anxiety who falls in love.

Red Eye
