The wonderfully creepy It Comes At Night looks set to be one of the year’s best horrors

Paul Moore

One of the most suspenseful and gripping trailers that we’ve seen in a while.

While Ruth Negga rightfully received plenty of plaudits for her Oscar nominated performance in Loving, her co-star, Joel Edgerton, went slightly under the radar, but as film fans will know, the Australian actor has quietly been building a reputation as one of the most versatile and gifted actors in Hollywood.

If you’ve already seen him in the likes of Warrior, Midnight Special, Zero Dark Thirty or The Gift, you’ll already know that Edgerton is incredibly good, but in his new film, It Comes At Night, the actor and audience will be taking a step into the unknown.

In terms of gripping trailers, It Comes at Night has released an absolute doozy because it conveyed such an ominous, sinister and unnerving tone throughout.

Trey Edward Shults’ film has already screened at various festivals and earned massive praise. Time Out gave it five stars and said that it’s a “nerve-shredding domestic thriller” while Uproxx called it an “unnerving, masterful piece of horror filmmaking, creating a sense of suspense about what’s out in the woods.”

If you’re a fan of the genre then you’re in for a treat because we got a serious vibe of Night of The Living Dead meets The Road here.

Plot’s it all about?: Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son, but this will soon be put to test when a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge.
