We can't wait

Any movie directed by Christopher Nolan is highly-anticipated.

The creator of such astounding and visually captivating works as Interstellar, Inception, and The Dark Knight trilogy has quickly become a must-see filmmaker of our time.

When he announces that his next project will mine from the dramatic real-life story of the Dunkirk evacuations during World War II, you know you’re in for something special.

Add a cast featuring such weighty talents as Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, and yes, Harry Styles, and the anticipation reaches fever pitch.

Thankfully, we have finally been treated to a teaser trailer for the film from Warner Bros Pictures and it is safe to say that it doesn’t disappoint – even if none of the film’s stars feature.

It would have been easy to relay dramatic battle scenes with Winston Churchill’s famous ‘We shall fight on the beaches’ speech playing in the background, but the teaser proves less is more.

It intersperses the mantra ‘At the point of crisis, at the point of annihilation, survival is victory…’ over sparse and brutal landscapes, with stranded troops cut adrift and fearing the worst.

Nolan wrote the screenplay, which focuses on Operation Dynamo, 1940 mission that freed over 300,000 Allied troops trapped by the Nazis. The film is released on July 21, 2017 and we can’t wait.
