The 10th main instalment in the franchise has strong links to series highlight Fast Five
The first trailer for the much-anticipated upcoming entry in the Fast & Furious franchise - Fast X - has hit the web.
And on top of showcasing the gloriously over-the-top vehicular action we have come to expect from the series, the teaser gives fans their first proper look at the movie's main villain played by Jason Momoa.
Fast X will mark Momoa's first appearance in a Fast & Furious film, though his character does have a strong connection to a baddie in one of the previous entries in the franchise.
Spoilers for Fast Five
If you recall, Fast Five - arguably the best Fast & Furious movie - focused on Dominic 'Dom' Torretto (Vin Diesel) and co's efforts to steal $100 million from Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), a ruthless Brazilian drug lord posing as a legitimate businessman.
The climax of that movie - which involved a massive cash vault being dragged by cars through the streets of Rio de Janeiro - saw the drug lord wind up being badly injured by Dom, before being executed by Diplomatic Security Service Agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson).
It turns out Momoa's character in Fast X is Hernan Reyes' son Dante who has spent 12 years masterminding a plan to get revenge on Dom.
"Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface," the plot for the movie reads.
"But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance."
Fast X is directed by Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, The Transporter) and will feature a huge ensemble cast including Michelle Rodrguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Michael Rooker and Cardi B.
It will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 19 May. You can check out the movie's trailer below.

Strays
In this sweary live-action comedy out in cinemas on 9 June, an abandoned dog named Reggie (voiced by Will Ferrell) teams up with other strays to get revenge on his mean former owner (Will Forte).
Berlin
Moving onto TV, this spin-off of the hit Spanish Netflix show Money Heist will focus on the character of Berlin (Pedro Alonso) and will arrive on Netflix in December.
Liaison
This Apple TV+ series premiering on 24 February stars Vincent Cassel and Eva Green as agents and former lovers who must work together to combat international cyberattacks threatening the UK.
The Night Agent
The Netflix action thriller series out on 23 March follows a low-level FBI agent (Gabriel Basso) who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings... until the night it does.
Swarm
This comedy-drama series created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers (Atlanta) stars Dominique Fishback (The Deuce) as Dre, a young woman whose obsession with a pop star takes a dark turn.
It will premiere on Prime Video on 17 March.
