Just wait till he hears about number five
Cult film director, Quentin Tarantino, has said the Toy Story trilogy is so perfect how it is that he’ll never watch Toy Story 4.
Some films are just iconic and made up significant parts of many of our childhoods, and Toy Story is without a doubt one of those.
And even the famous film director best known for his R rated films can kick back and enjoy some lighter viewing every once in a while.
Just over two weeks ago, to Tarantino’s probable disinterest, it was announced a Toy Story 5 was in the works, with a short teaser released that can be watched below:
First released in 1995, Toy Story was an instant hit, grossing $394m (£300m) in the global box office and becoming an instant kids’ classic.
Two more films followed which were even better received with Toy Story 3 making over $1bn in the box office.
While the fourth film also grossed over $1bn and was enjoyed by many, Tarantino is not so bothered about giving it a watch.
On The Club Random Podcast, the director said: “The third one is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen… I have no desire to see the fourth one. You ended the story as perfect as you could, so I don’t care if it’s good, I’m done.”
That’s some seriously high praise from such a reputable film maker and he’s also not alone in the opinion.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) many people voice their agreement with Tarantino.

One person said: “he is so real for that, the 4th movie was not needed.”
Another user wrote: “I completely agree!!!! Sometimes it is better to leave it on a high note than churning out more movies just for profits.”
While one person was caught on the fence and put: “He’s right about Toy Story 3 But Toy Story 4 was still good and had some incredible animation moments.”
During a presentation at D23, an annual Disney fan event taking place this weekend in Anaheim California, producers announced that filmmaker and voice actor Andrew Stanton will direct the fifth film.
Stanton has contributed to every Toy Story script since the inception of the inaugural film, but this will be the first time he’s engaged on this IP as a director.
Tim Allen, who has voiced the character of Buzz Lightyear since 1995, tweeted that he would be returning as everyone’s favourite space ranger for the fifth film.
“See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity,” Allen wrote. “And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”
