The actress was best known for her role as Lois Lane in four Superman films
Actress Margot Kidder has died at the age of 69 after being found unconscious in her home in Montana.
According to TMZ, Kidder was found in her home by an unknown person who called the police to inform them that she was not breathing.
Kidder starred opposite Christopher Reeve in 1978’s Superman and three subsequent sequels, and rose to prominence as a result. She went on to star in the 1979 horror movie The Amityville Horror, a role which cemented her status as a leading actress in Hollywood.
Though she worked steadily throughout the 1980s, a number of mental health issues – including a breakdown in 1996 – led to her to move away from acting and into social activism such as mental health, anti-war demonstrations and feminism.
In the aftermath of her death, a number of celebrities and fans took to social media to pay their respects and praise her for her work outside of acting.

Margot Kidder should be remembered as much for courageously, candidly discussing her battles with mental illness as for any screen role.
There are no Supermen— or women. It is not a character deficiency to acknowledge such struggles and get the help and treatment you need!
