Star Wars spin-off will tell the story of how Han Solo met Chewbacca

Going Solo

After a hiatus of what felt like an eternity, we’re pretty much going to be getting new Star Wars films for the rest of time.

One of the most intriguing bits of information announced so far is the plan for a Han Solo origins story. We know the film is due out in 2018 and will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (the masterminds behind The Lego Movie), but other than that they haven’t let much slip.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has now revealed a bit more about the movie at the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference – the obvious place to make a Star Wars announcement – and it will apparently be ‘an origin story about Han Solo and Chewie’.

Iger also said the as yet untitled movie will be released after Star Wars Episode VIII, and that the story could possibly be told over a number of films.

There’s no word yet on who Disney have lined up to play the young Han, but we would like to officially confirm our availability and extensive knowledge of how to fly planet-hopping starships.
