Selena called the abuse Hailey had suffered ‘vile and disgusting’
Selena Gomez has addressed her fans after Hailey Bieber earlier this week spoke about whether or not she “stole” Justin Bieber from the singer.
In an episode of Alex Cooper’s podcast, Call Her Daddy, Hailey, for the first time ever, addressed the torrent of online abuse and trolling she has received for her relationship and marriage to Bieber.

Hailey, who did not mention Selena by name on the podcast, treaded very carefully Elle noted, saying: “It’s hard for me to talk about this because I don’t want to talk on either one of their behalf, again, because it was their relationship, and I honestly respect that very deeply.”
Hailey was receiving so much abuse that in October 2019, Selena stepped in, telling her fans to stop attacking her ex-boyfriend’s new partner.
In a live video on TikTok, Selena responded to Hailey’s podcast interview, and again implored fans to stop sending her nasty messages.
The ‘Lose You To Love Me’ singer described some of the messages Hailey has been sent as “vile and disgusting”, and continued: “It’s not fair and no one ever should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen.
“All I have to say is it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words, because that’s exactly what I want. That’s it.”
While thanking fans for supporting her third studio album, Rare, Selena told followers they should “also know they’re representing what it means”.
“And that is, words matter. Truly matter. So, it ain’t coming from me. And I just want all of you to know, that I hope you understand that this is much bigger than anything else,” she said.
Despite speaking up about the abuse she had suffered on the podcast, the fact that Hailey even to be interviewed, didn’t sit well with everyone.
One Twitter user wrote: “It’s actually crazy that Hailey Bieber went on a podcast to discuss her husband’s relationship with his ex. where’s the self respect.
“Hailey Bieber deciding to talk about Selena Gomez before Selena’s documentary is her trying to control the narrative but she ain’t foolin anyone,” another user said.
