A brilliant, underseen crime thriller movie is airing on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It’s a must-watch for fans of Line of Duty.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 16 January) is Q&A, the brilliant if underseen 1990 crime thriller from legendary writer-director Sidney Lumet (Dog Day Afternoon, Network, The Verdict).

The film sees a veteran, corrupt NYPD cop Captain Michael Brennan (Nick Nolte, Cape Fear) execute a small-time criminal before threatening witnesses to ensure silence.

“Young district attorney Aloysius Al Francis Reilly (Oscar-winner Timothy Hutton, Ordinary People) takes on the case, and must risk everything to prosecute Brennan,” the plot synopsis reads.

“The investigation hinges on the testimony of a drug boss (Armand Assante, Gotti), who is dating Reilly’s ex-girlfriend.”

Based on a novel by former New York State Supreme Court judge Edwin Torres, Q&A’s brilliant performance and dark story of police corruption make it a must-watch for fans of the hit BBC crime thriller Line of Duty.

The movie is airing tonight on the TV channel Legend at 10.50pm. It is also available to rent on Apple TV.
