This Morning host Phillip Schofield shocked a viewer on Friday when he offered to pay her energy bill during a segment on the show about bills.
With Martin Lewis hosting his segment on financial issues and queries, a woman named Patricia called in to say that she had switched energy provider recently, only to be handed a bill of £700.
The 73-year-old woman admitted that she was unaware how to do metre readings and as such hadn't provided one to her energy provider.
It was at this point that she received the enormous bill on top of her regular payments.
Speaking to Lewis and hosts Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the woman revealed that she had been so worried regarding the bill that she had been unable to eat or sleep since receiving it.
After Lewis advised the woman to challenge the bill, Schofield jumped in to offer to pay it for her, saying: "No, no no no. Don't do that. Listen, one way or the other we'll fix this for you."
"If the worst comes to the worst we'll pay it for you."
After Lewis offered to send a member of his team to show her how to do a reading, the woman responded: "Thank you, I've not been eating or sleeping ,so thank you. I'm so glad I got through."
