People are trying to decipher what video game movie The Rock is making

The Rock has said it is 'one of the biggest, most badass games'

Gaming fans have been trying to guess what video game movie Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is working on, with some ideas seeming more likely than others.

We all know Johnson loves a video game movie. There was 2005's Doom, a big-screen adaptation of the classic first-person-shooter (FPS) franchise, then Rampage in 2018, a monster movie based on the classic Midway Games titled.

And perhaps most successfully, he's starred in the Jumanji reboot and its sequel.

But in a recent interview with Men's Journal, The Rock revealed that he has another video game-based movie in the works.

He told the magazine: "I can’t tell you which game in particular we’re doing, but there will be an announcement this year.

"We’re going to bring one of the biggest, most badass games to the screen—one that I’ve played for years. I’m really excited to bring it to fans around the world.

"Of course we’re going to do right by our gamer friends—but really we’re just going to make a great movie."

Well this sparked some speculation from fans.

The frontrunner so far seems to be a Gears of War adaptation, but there are some far more wacky and interesting suggestions being thrown around.

And we'd watch every single one.

There were these two suggestions from one user, who saw a potential role for Kevin Hart in a Double Dragon movie.

But maybe it won't be an action game. Dwayne Johnson in a Minecraft movie anyone? There has been one in the works since 2014 after all...

Or could it be the game that took the world by storm during lockdown?

Surely he'd be the crewmate that saves the day, and not the imposter.

And one suggestion even got Johnson himself laughing, after one person imagined him with a leading role in the all-time classic video game... Pong.

For now, we'll just have to wait for more news on the project. But whichever video game it is, you just know it's going to be a blast.
