Oasis fans slam Ticketmaster over extra pricey ‘in demand standing tickets’

‘How is this even allowed?’

Ticketmaster has come under criticism for selling ‘in demand standing tickets’ to Oasis’ much-anticipated gigs next summer costing over £350 each.

Tickets went on sale this morning for the 14-date reunion tour that Oasis will play across the UK and Ireland in summer 2025.

Liam and Noel Gallagher will perform live together for the first time since 2009 when they play concerts in Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Manchester and Dublin in July and August next year.

When they announced the reunion tour, anticipation for the dates was at fever pitch, with some predicting demand for tickets would be greater than it was for Taylor Swift’s concerts this year.

So at 9am this morning, countless fans were ready and waiting to bag themselves a ticket for the concerts.

Many have been left waiting in queues just to get onto the website, as hundreds of thousands of people try to bag themselves a ticket.

In their latest update, Ticketmaster stated that whilst there are some tickets still available, the “inventory is now limited and not all ticket prices are available.”

However, some fans have been left outraged after making it onto the ticketing website only to see the price of standing tickets had been increased.

When the prices were announced on Thursday, seats started at £73 and standing started at £150.

But on Ticketmaster, standing tickets were being sold for £356.80, and had been labelled as “in demand standing.”

The Ticketmaster website states: “The Event Organiser has priced these tickets according to their market value. Tickets do not include VIP packages.”

Reacting on social media, one person said: “How the f**k is this even allowed??? You said standing was £150 and upped them to £356 and called them ‘in demand’ you bunch of robbing f***ers.”

Another said: “That feeling when you wait in a queue for four hours only to be told the price of the ticket has risen from £148 to… £355??? Because they’re ‘in demand’. How is this not illegal?”

Fans in Ireland noticed the same thing had happened for the Croke Park gigs in Dublin. The price of tickets for these dates had previously been announced as starting from €86 plus booking fees , but “in demand” tickets were now being sold by Ticketmaster for €415.

Some compared the ticket offer to the prices formerly expected from ticket touts, labelling it “bare naked greed.”

Oasis issued a warning to fans shortly after tickets went on general sale, addressing concerns that people may end up paying hugely inflated prices on resale websites if they miss out through official channels.

Some tickets have already appeared on these websites for prices in the thousands of pounds.

The band warned people that tickets can only be resold through Ticketmaster and Twickets, and that any tickets appearing on other secondary ticket sites “are either counterfeit or will be cancelled by the promoters.”

But this has prompted some to accuse Oasis of hypocrisy for the ‘in demand’ prices, and a community note has now been added to their post about reselling tickets.

One fan wrote: “Outrageous you’re trying to sell them to me at £355, £200 more than face value tho??? Cos they’re ~in demand~ so greedy!!!! Hate u.”

Another said: “You’re not even selling them for face value yourselves. We’ve finally got through and because the tickets are now “in demand” its 4x the price. Thats not very working class of you.”

When and where are Oasis playing?

Some 15 years after they last performed live together, Noel and Liam Gallagher will be performing as Oasis once more across the UK and Ireland in summer 2025.

Announcing the news after a weekend of intense speculation, the band said: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Oasis announced the dates and venues for a huge reunion tour in summer 2025, which included four dates at both Wembley Stadium in London and Heaton Park.

The band will also be playing dates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin over July and August next year.

On Thursday, they added three more dates in London, Manchester and Edinburgh to the initial run due to “unprecedented demand.”
