New YouTube channel could spell bad news for the likes of Netflix

Good news for film fans, maybe not such great news for Netflix.

Paramount have decided to upload several of their films to a new verified YouTube channel, meaning that they can be viewed without paying a single penny. With the likes of Netflix, Sky movies and Amazon Prime charging a fee to watch their content, the move by Paramount comes as a pleasant surprise. Admittedly, the uploaded films are far from the fresh-from-the-cinema blockbusters, (have a look at the channel here) but some are suggesting that such a move could be a sign of things to come. Although it will probably take a far bigger change to make us part with our Netflix subscriptions, if further titles start making their way on to YouTube, we might be changing our minds.
