Netflix says its latest show will have new episodes three times a week

Game-changer

This could change Netflix as we know it.

Chelsea Handler might sound like Guus Hiddink’s official job title, but she’s actually Netflix’s newest star.

The streaming giant has given the American comedian her own talk show, and its format could change the way Netflix operates.

Due to be released on May 11, the untitled show will produce new episodes three times a week – on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Comedian Chelsea Handler speaks onstage during the "Chelsea Does" panel discussion at the Netflix portion of the 2015 Summer TCA Tour at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on July 28, 2015 in Beverly Hills, California.

There have been a few exceptions to Netlfix’s usual rule of dropping entire seasons of a new programme at once – most notably the weekly additions to Better Call Saul – but this would be the first time the service has uploaded multiple episodes on different days of the same week.

While a regular format such as this makes sense for a talk show, it could also pave the way for Netflix to begin airing shows with more regularity – like an actual TV station.
