After the death of Mrs Krabappel's voice actor Marcia Wallace in 2013, Bart Simpson has been left without a teacher.

According to Entertainment Weekly, that void will be filled by Sofia Vergara for at least one episode, although producers are refusing to rule out a recurring role for the Modern Family star. https://twitter.com/EW/status/630786661627133953 Vergara will play Mrs. Berrera, Bart's new "highly attractive" teacher who he develops a crush on after finally hitting puberty after 27 seasons of arrested development. Unfortunately for Bart, Berrera also attracts interest from Principal Skinner. "We thought it’d be interesting if both Bart and Skinner have a crush on the same woman," says executive producer Al Jean. "She feels Skinner is a wounded soul that she wants to take care of. She is a vet like Skinner, and that’s his attraction."
