Our TV movie pick for tonight is Mission: Impossible - Fallout, the sixth and best entry in the ongoing Mission: Impossible film series.
The action spy sequel sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his Impossible Missions Force (IMF) team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker (Henry Cavill).
This is in an effort to stop a mysterious extremist named John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles, who have stolen three plutonium cores for nuclear bombs.
The terrorists have plans to use the weapons to dismantle the existing world order.
Thanks to Cruise's increasingly death-defying stunts, the film's slightly darker tone, its greater focus on the psychology of its hero, and franchise addition Cavill famously reloading his fists as if they were guns, Fallout is considered by many to be the best Mission: Impossible entry to date.
In fact, it remains a high point for Hollywood action cinema in general.
IndieWire ranked Fallout in sixth place in its list of the best action movies of the 21st century.
This is as the hit podcast, The Big Picture, recently named it as the 21st best film of the century - period.
And with the latest Mission: Impossible entry, The Final Reckoning, in cinemas now, what better time to catch up on Fallout?
The film is airing on TV tonight on the channel Film4 at 9pm. It is also currently streaming on Paramount+.
Mission: Impossible III - ITV4 - 9pm
Another solid entry in the M:I franchise, this sequel is also airing tonight on Sky Showcase at 9.40pm
Transporter 2 - E4 - 9pm
Jason Statham is... the transporter (again).
Kiss of the Dragon - Legend - 9pm
Bridget Fonda and Jet Li headline this 2001 action flick.
Judy - BBC Two - 11pm
The Judy Garland biopic that earned Renee Zellweger her second Oscar.
Outlaw - Legend - 11pm
This 2007 British vigilante thriller from writer-director Nick Love (The Football Factory, Marching Powder) stars Sean Bean, Danny Dyer and Bob Hoskins as men who work outside the law to right what they see as the wrongs of society. It did not get good reviews.
Blind Fury - Legend Xtra - 11pm
Rutger Hauer stars as a blind, sword-wielding Vietnam War veteran in this ’80s action comedy.
Booksmart - BBC One - 11.40pm
One of the best and most warmest comedies of recent years, Booksmart follows two graduating high school girls (Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever) who set out to finally break the rules and party on their last day of classes.
Jackass Forever - Film4 - 11.55pm
The most recent entry in the Jackass film franchise.
