Netflix has handed Missing You - its much-anticipated follow-up to its smash-hit Harlan Coben thriller series Fool Me Once - a release date.
Also based on a Coben novel, the miniseries will come out on New Year's Day on the streaming service.
It revolves around Detective Kat Donovan (played by Slow Horses scene-stealer Rosalind Eleazar), whose love of her life and fiancé disappeared 11 years ago.
"Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again," the plot synopsis from Netflix reads.
"His reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."
The novel was well-liked upon release, garnering particular praise for its intricate engaging plot and its strong characters.
Filming for the TV version commenced in the UK in spring 2024, with a stacked cast assembled for the project.
This includes Ashley Walters (Top Boy), James Nesbitt (The Missing), Jessica Plummer (The Decameron), Lenny Henry (The Rings of Power), Lisa Faulkner (Holby City), Matt Willis (Birds of a Feather), Paul Kaye (The Stranger), Richard Armitage (Fool Me Once), Rudi Dharmalingam (The Lazarus Project), Samantha Spiro (Sex Education) and Steve Pemberton (Inside No.9).
Missing You is the latest in a line of Harlan Coben thriller adaptations for Netflix, following in the footsteps of Safe, The Stranger, Stay Close and 2024 hit Fool Me Once.
The latter is currently the eighth-most viewed English-language season of TV on Netflix ever.
As such, the streaming service will be looking to replicate Fool Me Once's success with Missing You, which has been given the same New Year's Day release as its predecessor.
