Making A Murderer creators have ‘certainly thought’ about making Part Three

Paul Moore

“Life continues and the story continues.”

Before Making A Murderer: Part Two was released on Netflix, the directors of the documentary series, Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi were keen to stress an irrefutable fact; this is a real event and real lives have been damaged.

Regardless of the various conspiracy theories, allegations of corruption, and examples of perceived injustice, Teresa Halbach, a 25-year-old woman, was brutally murdered.

Over the course of the last few days, we’ve provided an extensive breakdown of the key events and discussions that were referenced in the series, but given the fact that this is a real-life case, the future continues to be uncertain for Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey.

At present, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals has remanded Steven’s case to Judge Sutkiewicz for the judge to hold any necessary hearings and make factual findings about whether the Velie CD was improperly withheld from the defence.

As for Brendan Dassey, the US Supreme Court has denied his petition for a writ of certiorari, thereby declining to hear his case and leaving the en banc decision of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to stand.

Of course, the situation could change and should that happen, Demos and Ricciardi haven’t ruled out the possibility of returning to document the case with Making A Murderer: Part 3.

During an interview with JOE, the filmmakers said that they have thought about returning.

“We’ve certainly thought about it but we’ll have to wait and see,” said Demos.

“Of course, life continues and the story continues because this is real life but we have to figure out what’s happening. Can we get access? Most importantly, does it have something new to add? We were very confident that Part Two did have a lot of new things to add and a lot of things that viewers would want. We’ll have to answer those questions before we take the plunge.”

At present, nothing official has been announced regarding any new episodes of the documentary.
