Making A Murderer – Changes are coming for Steven Avery and his lawyers

Netflix's smash-hit documentary 'Making A Murderer' has taken on a life of its own.

But despite the show's popularity there's one thing that shouldn't be overlooked, this is a real life event with real consequences for those involved. If you haven't seen the show then we urge you to stop reading but if you're following Steven's case then there has been some developments. Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos created a compelling narrative in the documentary but the actual story of Steven Avery's continuous fight for justice shows no sign of ending anytime soon. In a recent press release , it was announced that Avery will be getting new legal representation from the Law Firm of Kathleen Zellner and Associates. The firm released a statement saying "The Zellner Law Firm is looking forward to adding Mr. Avery to its long list of wrongful conviction exonerations." In addition to Zellner, local counsel Tricia Bushnell will also assist with the case. Zellner has said she will be taking 'full and complete representation' of the case, meaning Dean Strang and  Jerry Buting won't be involved in any new proceedings. According to Zellner's biography on her website, no private attorney in the United States has successfully fought for the release of more wrongfully convicted individuals. She's also the only attorney in the US to have won five multi-million dollar verdicts in less than a year. Since opening her firm in 1991, she has obtained nearly $90 million in verdicts and settlements, many of which set state and national records. Will her appointment provide a breakthrough in Steven's case or will she be restricted by the same obstacles that his previous lawyers faced?
