Magnum P.I. star Roger E. Mosley dead at 83 following car crash

Actor Roger E. Mosley, best known for his role as the pilot Theodore “TC” Calvin on Magnum, P.I. has died age 83 following a car crash on Thursday, August 4.

The prolific actor, who starred in hit shows throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, passed away as a result of his injuries on Sunday as per an announcement by his daughter.

He was left in a critical condition and paralysed from the shoulders down following the collision, also first reported by his daughter on Facebook on Saturday. No further details about the crash have yet been made available.

Writing in the post announcing his death, daughter Ch-a said: “We could never mourn such an amazing man. He would HATE any crying done in his name. It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all.

“I love you daddy. You loved me too. My heart is heavy but I am strong. I will care for mommy, your love of almost 60 years. You raised me well and she is in good hands. Rest easy.”

Tributes began pouring in on social media following the news, with many remarking the veteran not only as a “wonderful actor” but a “sweet man”.

Mosley starred in more than 150 episodes of the hit 80s action and crime drama alongside lead Tom Selleck, aired for eight seasons from 1980 until 1988. Mosley also made an appearance in a more recent reboot of the hit show, which ran for four series concluding 30 years from the original finale.

In addition to Magnum, P.I., Mosley was also known for roles such as Coach Ricketts in the 90s sitcom Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, as well as appearances in Sanford and Son, Love Boat, Kojak; The Rockford Files, Starsky and Hutch” and many many more.
