Machine Gun Kelly has hit back at criticism after his "excruciating" grid walk interview with Martin Brundle at the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend.
The singer was in attendance in at the Formula 1 race when he was approached by Sky Sports broadcaster and former F1 driver Brundle as he carried out his famous gridwalk.
And the conversation went about as awkwardly as you might expect, providing fans with another classic example of Brundle not taking any nonsense from celebs.
He started off by trying to ask MGK to tell us about his career, before the star finally responded: “Oh, my career. I don’t think about my career, I don’t think about it.”
Brundle responded: “Well good luck with it whatever you do.”
After a brief discussion about their respective industries of motor sport and music, things started to get a bit weird as MGK asked Brundle for his “best air guitar.”
The F1 expert declined but said he had “learned the piano once,” prompting Kelly to suggest they do an “an air piano and air guitar collaboration right now.”
At this point, as Kelly strummed away on his own, Brundle said he “probably needs to get on” and continue with his live broadcast, much to disappointment of the music star who gave a thumbs down to the camera and stormed off.
In classic style, Brundle told viewers at home: “Something tells me I won’t be on his Christmas list.”
The reaction to the interview was a combination of praise for Brundle and criticism for MGK, with people labelling the chat "excruciating", "cringe", and "the most awkward interview ever."
Kelly has since hit back though.
Responding to one person, he wrote: "My vibe is 'the worst' how? Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when i was just trying to enjoy an event? Because car engines were so loud i couldn't hear him? please tell me more about why i'm the worst."
He later tweeted: "My anxiety has won. I hate being in public."
His fans showed their support for him though, with one writing: “Kells we love you. It’s no biggie.”
Another penned: “We love you, Kells. Take a time for you, people are horrible sometimes. We wish we could protect you from this cruel world.”
And another said: “Are you kidding me. Your vibe is ecstasy. Always.”
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has responded to backlash following a brush with Brundle on the grid.
Back in July, Cara Delevingne issued a response after she blanked the broadcaster on the grid in the buildup to the British Grand Prix.
