BBC announces official release date for Line of Duty season 5

Not long before the hit show is back on the Beeb

Line of Duty will be returning for its fifth season very soon, and the BBC have now confirmed its return date: March 31.

"The fans have already called it. Confirming for the record, Line of Duty Series 5 starts on Sunday 31st March on BBC One and BBC iPlayer," BBC One's official Twitter account posted on Monday evening.

The announcement was made with an animation of a mysterious poster, with stars Martin Compston, Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure linked together with handcuffs.

“Crime needs an inside man,” the poster states, dropping a hint at the storyline for season 5.

The drama, which follows police anti-corruption unit AC-12 is widely regarded as one of the BBC's best shows for its intricate storylines and exceptional acting.

Filming for season 5 began in September last year, and will be hitting your TV screen in just 12 days' time.
