Jurassic World Dominion bombs with critics despite 80% Rotten Tomatoes score

Some have called it the biggest dinosaur catastrophe since the asteroid

The latest instalment of the Jurassic World series has bombed with critics despite audiences’ 80 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score.

Entitled Jurassic World Dominion, the latest flick brings back original cast members Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum to tackle the prehistoric threat once and for all. The film also sees returning stars Chris Pratt, DeWanda Wise and the incredible Bryce Dallas Howard.

While experts have criticised previous instalments in the past, that isn’t to say their opinions are to be taken as fact. After all, despite their impressive wording and glowing reputations, critics are just sharing their opinions.

Still, Jurassic World Dominion is now officially the worst-rated film in the franchise, with a 30 per cent critic score.

In contrast, Fallen Kingdom received a 41 per cent score, while 2015’s Jurassic World received 71 per cent.

“A movie that preys on nostalgia but doesn’t know what to do with any of it, and a film with a massive scale that gets pared down to the same tricks as before, Jurassic World Dominion brings the franchise to an unsatisfying close,” wrote Tilt magazine’s Christopher Cross.

Similarly, a critic from Movie Freak wrote: “Jurassic World Dominion is dumb without the fun, and that just makes me sad.”

As usual, Twitter has a different opinion of the film.

While numerous tweets are branding the blockbuster as “underwhelming”, things seem much more balanced with considerably more positive commentary.

“OMG Jurassic World Dominion was soooo good!” wrote one fan, while another wrote: “Overall, I’m giving this a 7.5/10. It has some noticeable flaws, but it’s a step in the right direction from FK and overall an enjoyable film.”

If you were looking forward to watching dinosaurs ravage the modern world then, by all means, stuff the critics and have a good time. Ultimately, if it really is as rubbish, as they say, there are five other films to get your dino fix with.
