Joe Marler has revealed how much he got paid to take part in The Celebrity Traitors.

It's the TV show that gripped a nation during a tense four-week period, coming to a climax last week as Alan Carr ended up victorious in the game of lies and deceit.

Marler, 35, was one of the stand out contestants, making it to the final along with Nick Mohammed, Cat Burns, David Olusoga and eventual winner Alan Carr.

Now, the former England rugby star has spoken to The Times about how much he was paid to appear on the show, revealing he received £30,000 for his efforts.

He added: “Daisy [his wife] read that [he got paid £40,000].

“She said to me, ‘Hold on, I thought you only got 30?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I did

“I don’t think everyone got paid the same.

“But I’m not bothered.

“It was 30 grand whether you lasted two days or three weeks – a no-brainer,” he said.

Ultimately, comedian Alan Carr won the series and claimed the £87,500 prize pot, which he donated to charity.

Marler also spoke about his time on the show on Saturday Kitchen, during which he expressed his disappointment with his plan falling short at the very end.

He said: “He [Nick] didn’t stick to my plan, he went with his gut, which was a shame.

“But I still was so in love with him, because that little dicky bow, his little face, the three little love hearts he put by my name…

“Although in that moment, I was heartbroken, I was like ‘Aww’.”
