FromSoftware has given The Duskbloods a new release window, with the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 game now expected to arrive in 2027.
The multiplayer title had been scheduled for release sometime in 2026, but the developer has decided to give production more time.
Fans have not been given an exact date, with the studio offering no further details about when next year's launch might take place.
The announcement follows a period of relative silence surrounding the project.
After network testing took place in August, neither Nintendo nor FromSoftware provided a substantial update, and earlier speculation about a September release ultimately came to nothing.
Despite the wait, interest in the game has been considerable. Eurogamer reported that applications for its closed network test outnumbered those submitted for Elden Ring Nightreign, another major FromSoftware release.
That testing period did, however, expose some technical difficulties. The first session was brought to an abrupt end after players experienced widespread connection issues.
Later sessions went ahead more smoothly, although the studio will presumably want to ensure the problems do not return when the game launches.
FromSoftware has now explained that the delay is primarily intended to give developers more time to work on the experience itself.
In a message posted on The Duskbloods' official account, the studio confirmed that development had reached its final adjustment phase but said it had opted to move the launch into 2027.
“While development of The Duskbloods is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027,” the statement read.
The developer also apologised to players who had been anticipating the release and thanked them for continuing to support the project.
