The Isle Of Wight festival is the last British gig Jimi Hendrix played before he died in 1970, so of course it's only right to name the stage after him.

During Saturday's world record attempt to achieve the highest number of people wearing masks in the same place, it was announced that the main stage has been renamed Electric Church - paying homage to the late legend. Jimi Thousands of fans who weren't already at the stage in anticipation for James Bay flocked over with their Jimi masks on and took part in the record countdown while posing for pictures. Festival boss John Giddings was on stage to witness the bizarre scene and announced the renaming of stage to Electric Church. All proceeds for the event are going to the festival charity Well Child.
