The Golden Globes took place last night. Olivia Coleman, Mahershala Ali and Rami Malek all took home awards for their stellar performances in cinema this year. Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh gave an opening duologue that received mixed reviews.

But it was a simple selfie that captured the attention of plenty of film fans, as Idris Elba teased James Bond fans by tweeting a selfie with the current 007 actor Daniel Craig.

Rumours of Elba, who made his name as Stringer Bell in The Wire, becoming the next James Bond refuse to go away and Elba poured fuel on the fire last night with this picture, which he captioned ‘awks…’

Obviously, social media went into meltdown. But Elba quickly quashed downplayed the rumours, claiming that he hadn’t meant to tease.

He told Sky News: “I’m not teasing, I’m not meant to be teasing. But you’ve got to laugh it’s such an incredible rumour that has gotten out of hand – and hey, why not?”
