How to access all hidden films and TV shows on Netflix

Netflix hidden genre codes

As if there wasn’t enough to choose from already

Let’s have it right: lockdown jokes aside, no one has ever ‘completed’ Netflix and judging by this revelation, no one ever will, as it turns out there are thousands of movies and TV shows hidden in the platform’s back catalogue.

As detailed as some of the ‘based on what you’ve watched’ and adjacent genres dropped on your homepage are, they are just that: based on the algorithm working around your tastes. The truth is, we are all immensely basic by Netflix’s standards.

If you dig deep enough, you can find every genre from ‘Screwball Comedies’ and ‘Social Issue Dramas’ to Belgian movies. If you like it, they’ve probably got something on it.

Delighted by this news? Here’s the catch: these secret selections can only be accessed directly through the website, so you’ll need to be using Netlfix on a browser as opposed to on your phone, NOW TV box or games console, for instance.

To visit each individual genre’s webpage, you need to input the unique four-digit code into your web browser after the following address: http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/
