Harry Potter star Alan Rickman has died of cancer, aged 69
The world has lost another legend in Alan Rickman.
The actor, best known for films including Harry Potter, Die Hard, Truly Madly Deeply and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, has died at the age of 69.
In the same week as David Bowie's passing at 69, the London-born star was also suffering from cancer and died surrounded by family.
It's believed he had been dealing with his illness in secret and wanted to keep his medical problems a private matter.
Last year, Rickman married his life-long partner Rima Horton, who he met when he was 19 and she was 18 and whom he lived with in London for over 50 years.
He played some much-loved characters including Professor Snape, Hans Gruber in Die Hard and the Sheriff of Nottingham. A truly great actor...
